Snohomish County MD Surrenders License

OLYMPIA,WA - On May 12, 2020, the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) filed a Statement of Charges that alleged that Dr. Jon B. Olson (MD00014086) failed to meet the standard of care and violated the WMC pain management rules regarding his treatment of eight patients.  He prescribed high doses of opioids, sometimes in combination with benzodiazepines and muscle relaxers, failed to implement safeguards to screen for signs of abuse and addiction, and failed to maintain adequate records from 2004-2018.

He also asked that a patient’s cause of death be changed and failed to disclose his role in the change when asked about it by the WMC.  On January 14, 2021, the WMC withdrew the Statement of Charges, issued a Statement of Allegations, and entered into a Stipulation to Informal Disposition. Under the terms of the Stipulation to Informal Disposition, Dr. Olson is required to surrender his license. He is not eligible to renew or reactivate his license and he cannot practice as a retired active physician.
