King County Physician Restricted

OLYMPIA, WA – In November 2023, the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) restricted the license of Seattle physician, James W. Rice, MD (License #00015479). 

Rice signed an Agreed Order restricting them from prescribing, ordering or providing Schedule II, III, and IV medications to patients. Rice did not adequately treat a patient with cardiac issues and inappropriately prescribed pain medication and benzodiazepines to a second patient.

Rice must also complete a competence assessment, complete continuing medical education, write a paper, submit to compliance audits and pay a fine of $1,000. Rice may petition to modify the restriction after completing the competence assessment.
